| This past Thursday evening, members of Madison Hose Company #1 and the North Madison Volunteer Fire Company participated in a joint departmental training session led by Jason Rivera of Tactical Resource Fire Training LLC. More than 50 firefighters attended this highly informative program, which focused on the safe response to and mitigation of lithium-ion battery incidents.
Lithium-ion batteries are commonly found in mobile phones, laptop computers, rechargeable power tools, automobiles, and a wide range of other electronic devices used daily by consumers. As society’s reliance on these power sources continues to grow at a rapid pace, the number of emergency incidents involving them has also increased significantly. These events present unique hazards that require specialized training and a thorough understanding of proper response techniques.
Training opportunities such as this highlight the ongoing commitment of your volunteer first responders to remain prepared for the evolving and increasingly complex hazards we may encounter each time we are dispatched. Through continued education, collaboration, and hands-on instruction, our members work to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve and protect our community safely and effectively. |
