On September 23, 2022, Madison Hose Company No. 1 reached a significant milestone in our history, the 115th anniversary of our organization. Since being officially formed on September 23, 1907 by 17 charter members, the volunteer firefighters of Madison Hose have provided continuous fire and rescue protection to the Madison community.

The American fire service has a storied history built on traditions. For Madison Hose Company No. 1 one such tradition is that of taking a company photo. Over the course of our history, many company photos have been taken to commemorate different historical milestones - the last was taken in 2007 on the occasion of our 100th anniversary. It is a source of great pride to be immortalized in one of these photos, many of which hang proudly throughout the firehouse, serving as a reminder of our heritage, honoring those who have served before us.

On the morning of Sunday, September 25th, many of our Active and Exempt members assembled in full dress uniform to commemorate our 115th anniversary. Joining us were family and even past members, three of which travelled from as far away as Pennsylvania to attend. Many stories and laughs were shared as we had coffee and breakfast before we lined up for a new company photo.

We were honored to have many of our past chiefs in attendance that morning including Adrian Bassett, Thomas Lemley, Charles “Chick” Daricek, Samuel E. DeBurra Jr., Robert Gerard, and David Thomas. This special event allowed a chance for company members young and old to reflect on our service to the community, share stories and memories of days past and those no longer with us. Special thanks is given to Past Chief Robert Gerard for organizing this event.
