Our friends at the Old Lyme Fire Department are celebrating their 100th anniversary of service to their community tomorrow. Part of this celebration will include the new Tunnel to Towers Foundation's 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit.

"The 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit is a tribute to all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including the 343 members of the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who continue to lose their lives to 9/11-related illnesses. This high-tech, 83-foot tractor-trailer, which transforms into an 1,100 square foot exhibit, is a tool to further educate people across the country about the events of that tragic day."

Madison Hose Company # 1 was aware that this mobile exhibit would be passing through our town today on I-95. In anticipation of this, MHC members staged our tower ladder truck on one of the overpasses as a tribute to those who perished on 9/11, including 343 FDNY firefighters. We are told that Branford, Guilford and Clinton Fire Departments also were present along the travel route to commemorate today’s event.

We would like to wish the Old Lyme Fire Department a happy anniversary and commend them on their continued selfless service to the Town of Old Lyme.
