Members of Madison Hose Company # 1 spent much of yesterday responding to emergencies throughout the duration of the storm. Multiple calls for wires down, transformer fires, flooding and high water conditions, and carbon monoxide alarms were handled as well as a call for a tree on a garage, a chimney fire, a possible structure fire, a motor vehicle accident and assisting a motorist with exiting their car which had become submerged in water while driving. In all members responded to over a dozen calls for help in less than 24 hours - just another day in the life of our volunteer fire department.

A reminder to stay far away from any downed or low hanging power wires/lines. Treat all power lines as if they were live - your life depends on it. Please report all downed wires to 911 in a timely manner so that the hazard can be safely mitigated.
